Academic Venture
Chidambaram Arts along with PRARTHANA Fine Arts of Jakarta, has come together to form a non-profit community, Kalavrsti, for promoting the cause of academic pursuit in Classical Indian Arts.
Kalavrsti in collaboration with the Alagappa Performing Arts Academy (APAA) of Escondido,CA facilitates Certificate, Associate Degree, Diploma and Degree Programs in Bharatanatyam based on the Structured Learning Format developed along with Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India.
The Program was officially launched on Sep. 9, 2007. The first batch of canditates appear for their examination in 2008. Click to view pictures of the launch
Courses Offered by APAA
One year program provides historical overview of the art and basic knowledge in footsteps, gestures and introduction to basic dances
Associate degree in Bharathanatyam
Two-year program, covers basic expressions(Head, eye and leg movements with a detailed exposure to talams(rhythms)
Diploma in Bharathanatyam
Three-year program includes an in-depth study of technical concepts of Abhinaya(Facial Expressions) and Angas(expressive Communication)
B.A. Degree in Bharathanatyam
Four year program, portrays the dance decorum with focus on advanced techniques to prepare for a dance debut.
