Shiro Bheda (head movements)

 

Samam udhvaahitha  adhomukha aalokitham dhutam

Kampithamcha paraavrittam utkshiptam parivaahitham.

  1.   Samam :natural/  straight    
  2.    udhvaahitham:head facing up
  3.   Adhomukham: facing downwards   
  4.    aalolitham:rotating the head      
  5.   dhutam:shake head from side to side, as if to say no   
  6.    kampitham:nodding up and down, as if to say yes   
  7.   paraavritham: looking away to the side, as if to ignore         
  8.   utkshiptham: toturn the head to a side and then raise it up as if to command or request
  9. parivaahitham:shaking the head swiftly from one side to

 

Greeva Bheda  (neck movements)

 

Sundareecha thirashcheena  thathaiva parivarthitha

Prakampithaacha bhaavagner neya greeva chaturvidha

 

  • sundareecha:atami   
  • thirashcheenaa:paravritham with atami   
  • thathaiva parivarthitha:move head in a semi circle from side to side   
  • prakampitam:moving neck in and out like a duck

 

Dhrishti Bhedas(eye movements)

 

Samam aalokitham sakchi  praalokitha nimeelithe

Ullokithaanuvriththecha thathaachaivaavalokitham.

 

  • samam:straight   
  • aalokitham:round   
  • sachi:look oblique   
  • praalokitha:both sides   
  • nimelitham:eyes half closed
  • ullokitha:look up   
  • anuvriththecha:up and down   
  • avalokitham:down

 

Paada  Bhedas (movements of the Feet)

 

Mandalothplavane chaiva bhramari paadhachaarika

Chathurdha  paadhabhedasyos theshaam lakshanamuchyathe

 

The four paadha bhedas are

mandalam : movements in one place  

Uthplavanam : jumping  

bhramari :circling  

chaari : walking

 

Mandala Bhedas

 

Sthaanakam cha aayatha aaliddham prenkhanam prerithaani cha

Prathyaalidham swasthikam cha motitham samasoochika

Paarshvasoochithicha  dashamandala neerithaaniha

 

  • Sthaanakam :standing with feet together 
  • aayatham :the aramandi position 
  • aalidham : in aayatham one toe facing side and the other facing the front 
  • prenkhanam : left leg in aayatham and right stretched to the side on heel 
  • preritham : both legs a little far apart in aayatham  prathyaalidham : opposite to aaliddham 
  • swasthikam : one foot flat and the other on toe 
  • motitham : sitting in muzhumandi and jumping and placing one knee down 
  • samasoochi : placing both knees down  paarshvasoochi : placing one knee down.

  

Uthplavana Bhedas

 

Alagam kartareecha ashvotplavanam motitham thathaa

Kripaalatham ithikhyaatham panchathothplavanam budhaihi.

 

  • Alagam : jump in aayatham  
  • kartari : jump in front swastikam as in kartari adavu    
  • ashvotplavanam : keep feet together fold knee and jump forward placing one foot after the other 
  • motitham : jump to side in swastikam 
  • kripalatham: jump forward and back in swastikam.

 

Bhramari Lakshanam

 

Utpluta bhramari chakrabhramari garudabidha

Thathekapaadhabhramari  kunchithabhramareethicha

Aakaashabhramarichaiva  thathaangabhramareethicha

Bhramaryaa saptavigyeya natyashastra vishaaradaihi.

 

  • Utplutabhramari : keeplegs together jump and turn  chakrabhramari : kepp legs in preritam and move around by sweeping the feet in an arc
  • garudabidha : in garudamandalam lift the leg in the back and turn 
  • ekapadabhramari :usual bhramari movt in ekapadam 
  • kunchitha : same as ekapadabhramari in aramandi 
  • aakaasha : lift both legs apart in air and turn 
  • angabhramari :  .

 

Chaari Bhedas

 

aadouthu chalanam proktham pashchaath chankramanam thatha

saranam veginichaiva kuttanamcha thathahparam

lutitham lolithamchaiva thathaa vishamasancharaha

chaaribheda amiashtau proktha bharathavedhibhihi.

 

  • aadhoutuchalanam : normal walking movement
  • chankramanam : same walking a little faster
  • saranam : folding toe inwards and walking
  • vegini : running forward on heel
  • lutitham : moving forward in alidham
  • lolitam : moving forward in tattimettu
  • vishamasanchara : walking in a zigzag manner.
